Therapy can be many things: support, growth, problem-solving, exploration. It can be brief or long-term. Sometimes it starts as assistance for a specific, identifiable concern or stressful situation. Other times it starts as an exploration related to feeling stuck or having symptoms that won’t go away and have made the day-to-day more difficult. Gradually, it can move towards further examination of underlying factors maintaining unhappiness, anxiety, and ineffective coping. I work with patients to identify patterns and habits that are causing distress and keeping you stuck, and help to build skills and insight around ways to move forward.
